AUTO RENT CAR RENTAL OF SAN DIEGO POLICY
Driver's License Requirements
- In order to rent an Autorent vehicle, a valid US or International driver's license is required and must be "in hand" at time of rental.
- International renters must present a valid readable un-expired license from their country of residence. If the country of residence is not in English, an un-expired International Drivers license must be presented in conjunction with their country of residence license.
Credit Cards
Renter must present an acceptable credit card, with available credit, in their own name, at the time of rental. Credit Cards honored:

- Carte Blanche
- Discover ® Network
- JCB
We also accept debit cards with visa logos on them.

Age Requirement
- The primary renter of the vehicle must be 18 years of age (higher or lower at some locations).
- Additional drivers must meet the same eligibility requirements as the Primary driver
- All drivers must show a valid driver's license at time of rental.
- A standard additional daily fee of $10.00 applies.
- Military or Government personnel on official orders renting at government rates may rent at 18 years of age
Additional Authorized Drivers
Additional drivers on rentals that will be paid using a credit car d are required to present their valid driver's license(s) and be present to sign the rental agreement. The cost for additional drivers is $ 5.00 per day.
Responsibility for Rental Vehicle
Autorent holds the renter responsible for the safe return of the rental vehicle in the same condition as it was rented, except for normal wear and tear.
Unless prohibited by law, a renter may be held responsible for all damages, including loss of use, should the vehicle be damaged in an accident, stolen or vandalized. This is the case regardless of fault. Whether who is at fault in the accident, the renter may be asked to pay for the damage up to and including the total cost of replacing the vehicle in case of a total wreck or loss.
Be sure any estimated damage to the vehicle has been recorded properly before leaving the rental location.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
Autorent provides you, the renter and authorized drivers with a way to minimize or eliminate your responsibility for loss or damage to the rental vehicle through the purchase of Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). CDW is NOT insurance. It is a waiver of Autorent right to collect from the renter or authorized driver for the loss or damage to the rental vehicle.
The renter or authorized driver is responsible for any loss or damage to the rental vehicle, regardless of who is at fault. In addition, unless prohibited or limited by law, the renter or authorized driver (s) is responsible for administrative fees and loss of use charges. The cost for CDW is $9.00 per day, $15.00 for mini Van’s 15 passenger Van’s and Convertibles.
Liability Coverage
California law requires that every driver of a motor vehicle must have evidence of minimum financial responsibility. If you can’t provide proof. Autorent can provide the coverage at a cost of $13.95 per day.
Unlimited Mileage
Our vehicles are rented with unlimited mileage in Southern California and Las Vegas only if vehicle is taken outside of these areas a 25 cent per mile charge will apply.
Shuttle Bus Service
Bus service transports passengers between the airport and the Autorent rental facility located nearby.
Shuttle buses may not be permitted to stop at all curbside points so look for designated pickup areas as shuttle service buses come by regularly.
